SAS Is Back in India: Nonstop Copenhagen to Mumbai Flights Have Begun

After 17 years away, Scandinavian Airlines now flies nonstop between Copenhagen and Mumbai, opening an easy path to Northern Europe and North America.
A new nonstop link between Mumbai and Northern Europe is now in the air. Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) began its year-round Copenhagen to Mumbai service on 1 October 2026, bringing the airline back to India after a 17-year gap. Its last India service, to Delhi, ended in 2009.
Schedule and aircraft
Flight SK969 leaves Copenhagen at 16:10 and lands in Mumbai at 04:30 the next day. The first departure from Mumbai was set for 3 October. SAS operates five weekly flights, with Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday listed for the Copenhagen departure. The aircraft is an Airbus A330 with 266 seats.
Why it matters for travellers
Copenhagen is SAS's main hub, so Mumbai passengers get one-stop connections across Scandinavia and Europe, plus onward flights to long-haul cities such as New York, Boston and Toronto. That gives travellers from western India another option when planning trips to Nordic countries or North America.

A market with room to grow
Air India already flies nonstop between Delhi and Copenhagen three times a week, but Mumbai had no nonstop option. IndiGo started a Mumbai to Copenhagen service in October 2025 and suspended it in February 2026, citing airspace restrictions and congestion. Demand itself looks healthy: the Denmark and India market carried about 155,500 passengers in 2024, up 23 percent on the year, yet only around 33,000 of them flew nonstop.

Before you book
- Compare the nonstop fare against one-stop options through the Gulf.
- Check the departure days, because the schedule is not daily.
- Remember that a Schengen visa is required for Denmark and connections within the zone.
For travellers who value a shorter journey over the cheapest ticket, this new route is worth a look.
