14-Day Thailand Itinerary โ Where We Went and What We'd Change

The honest version of our 14-day Thailand trip โ the pace, the Ayutthaya day trip, the Grand Palace, and what we'd do differently.
We're not going to pretend we planned this trip perfectly from day one โ we adjusted things as we went, and there are a couple of things we'd genuinely do differently if we went again. Here's the honest version, not the polished highlight-reel version.
The overall shape of the trip
14 days gave us enough time to not feel rushed โ we weren't sprinting from city to city trying to see everything. We spent real time in each place instead of just checking boxes. That's honestly the biggest thing we'd tell anyone planning a similar trip: don't overpack your itinerary just because you're already there.

The one day that cost more than the rest
Our day trip to Ayutthaya (the ancient city) was the one day our local transport cost jumped โ around โน1,000 (~$12 / เธฟ415) instead of our usual โน500-600, just because of the distance involved. Worth it, but good to budget for separately if you're planning a similar day trip.
The Grand Palace day
This was the one stop where we spent more than expected โ เธฟ500 per person (~โน1,030 / $14.50) just for entry. Still worth doing once, but don't expect it to be a "cheap culture stop" the way some other temples are.
What we'd change
Bcoz if we went again, we'd probably build in one more slow day with nothing planned โ we found the days with zero agenda ended up being some of our favorite memories, just wandering and eating without a schedule.
