How Skytrippa Finds Deals Other Sites Miss

A quick honest look at what Skytrippa actually does differently โ€” and why the "cheapest flight" you see on one site is almost never the cheapest that exists.

People ask me all the time: "isn't Skytrippa just another flight search site?" Fair question. So here's the honest answer โ€” what we actually do differently, why it matters, and why the "cheapest flight" you see on any single booking site is almost never the cheapest that actually exists on that route.

The problem with any one site

Every flight booking site โ€” the airline itself, an OTA, a metasearch โ€” pulls fares from a limited set of sources. Airlines file different fares to different distribution channels. So the same seat on the same flight can literally show different prices on different sites, at the same moment. This isn't a bug or a scam โ€” it's how airline distribution works. Airlines want to price-discriminate between channels.

Which means: if you check one site, even a big well-known one, you're looking at a partial picture of the available fares on that route. The lowest fare you see is the lowest that this one site can access โ€” not necessarily the lowest that exists.

What Skytrippa does differently

We pull from multiple fare sources โ€” airline direct, aggregators, wholesale channels โ€” and surface them side by side for the same route and dates. That's the entire pitch. No "algorithm magic," no "AI-powered deals" nonsense. Just a broader comparison than any single site can do alone, because we're not tied to selling from one channel.

Why this matters in real numbers

I've been tracking the spread on my own bookings for a while. On roughly 7 out of 10 routes I've checked, the price spread across sources for the same seat, same day, same airline is between โ‚น1,500 and โ‚น8,000. On long-haul international, the spread can go over โ‚น10,000. That's not "sometimes." That's the normal state of flight pricing.

People who book on the first site they open aren't doing anything wrong โ€” they just don't know the spread exists.

What we don't do

A quick honesty check on what we're not:

  • Not a magic-deal engine. We don't have secret fares nobody else has. Nobody does.
  • Not always the cheapest for every single booking. Sometimes the airline's own site has the best fare for that specific search, and we'll show that too.
  • Not a discount coupon site. No "use SKY500" nonsense.

What we are is a comparison tool that shows you the honest picture across sources so you can book with confidence you've seen the real range. That's it. That's the product.

The other stuff we built alongside

Beyond flight comparison, we added a couple of things travellers kept asking for:

  • Flight reservations for visa applications โ€” real PNRs from real airline systems, so you don't block money on tickets you might not use. This alone has saved travellers I know from losing full ticket costs on delayed or rejected visas.
  • Multi-city support that actually works โ€” most sites treat multi-city as an afterthought.
  • Flexible date grids so you can see how price moves ยฑ3 days without re-searching.

The way I actually recommend using it

Even if you never book through us, use us as a benchmark. Search on your favourite site, then search the exact same trip on Skytrippa. Compare. If ours is cheaper, book with us. If theirs is cheaper on that particular search, book with them. You end up with the cheapest available fare, every time.

Why I built this in the first place

Because I got tired of realising, after every trip I'd already booked, that I'd overpaid by โ‚น3,000 or โ‚น5,000 because I didn't compare properly. The whole thing exists to remove that specific regret. Book once, book confidently, don't look back.

Bottom line

Skytrippa isn't magic. It's just broader-than-average comparison + a couple of features (visa reservations, real multi-city, flex dates) that most single-source sites don't bother building well. If you compare across sources on every booking โ€” with us or without us โ€” you'll save money on every single flight you take, for the rest of your life. That's the actual value. Everything else is marketing.
